Base Metals Preview: Copper extends stay near one-month low

COMEX Copper extended stay near a one-month low on Wednesday morning in Asia amid mixed cues from equities. The Nasdaq climbed 145.56 points or 0.8 percent to 18,712.75, extending its winning streak to four days. The S&P 500 also rose 9.40 points or 0.2 percent to 5,832.92, but the Dow fell 154.52 points or 0.4 percent to 42,233.05. The red metal rose yesterday following media reports of a possible fresh announcement of Chinese stimulus totaling 10 trillion yuan ($1.4 trillion) that could help support the metal, which has retreated from a record high in May amid concerns about demand recovery in the top metals consuming country. However, the counter eased from there and is currently quoting at $4.35 per pound, down 0.18% on the day.
