The Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand in the US rose 2.4% on a yearly basis in April, the data published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics showed on Thursday. This reading followed the 2.7% increase recorded in March and followed a tepid reading on consumer prices earlier in the week. The annual core PPI rose 3.1% in the same period, down from 4% in March. On a monthly basis, the PPI and the core PPI declined 0.5% and 0.4%, respectively.
