Precious Metals Preview: COMEX gold briefly slips under $4K mark for first time in 3-weeks

COMEX gold futures slipped briefly under $4K mark on Tuesday morning in Asia for the first time in nearly 3 weeks amid large selling volumes on possible profit booking. Besides, growing optimism around US-China trade deal is also reducing safe haven demand for the yellow metal. The White House confirmed last week that Trump will meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, in South Korea on Thursday on the sidelines of an Asian summit. However, weakness in dollar on rising expectation of Federal rate cut is limiting downside in the metal. Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate decision is due later on Wednesday. Currently, the counter is quoting at $4002.50 an ounce, down 0.40% on the day.
