Precious Metals Preview: COMEX gold takes a breather after climbing to 6-week high

COMEX gold is seen taking a breather in early Asian trades on Thursday after surging to a six week high in the last few days. Growing optimism of a Federal rate cut in December and ensuing weakness in greenback was keeping the yellow metal supported around a six week high. ADP data yesterday showed US private payrolls fell by 32,000 jobs in November, following the 47,000 increase and weaker than the market expectation of a 5,000 growth. This weighs on the greenback and provides some support to the USD-denominated commodity price. Going forward, US weekly Initial Jobless Claims data which is scheduled for release later on Thursday will be eyed. Currently, the counter is quoting at $4223.50, down 0.21% on the day. MCX gold stays firm at Rs 130350 mark amid sharp depreciation of rupee.
